Housing is of great social importance, since a person spends 60-90% of his time in it. The main space-planning elements of the apartment are functional areas and premises. There are 2 main zones: a collective zone - a common room, a kitchen, a dining room, a guest room, storage rooms; individual area - bedrooms, bathroom, dressing room. Such zoning is called "two-particle". "Three-particle" zoning is carried out on the basis of the principle of similar household processes. At the same time, they distinguish: individual, collective zone and service zone. Housing is often formed on the basis of a compositional axis using the following techniques:
- the space of the apartment develops along the axis;
- the interior space of the apartment is organized along its light front;
- the premises of the apartment are arranged around the central core.
There are the following types of apartment buildings:
1) Blocked - residential buildings connect 8-9 blocks. Regardless of the type of blocks, the following 5 schemes can be distinguished:
- linear;
- with shift of blocks;
- blocking with the help of utility rooms;
- blocking by the principle of "carpet building";
- blocking on the terrain occurs horizontally and vertically.
2) Terraced residential buildings are divided into four main types of their layout:
- traditional low-rise buildings;
- traditional terraced building on the relief;
- building with the use of terraced houses on flat terrain;
- solid dense building.
3) Sectional residential buildings consist of three main types of sections: row, side and rotary.
4) Multi-storey residential buildings.
5) One-section residential buildings.
6) Gallery residential buildings.
7) Corridor residential buildings.
8) A multifunctional residential complex that can satisfy not only the needs for housing, but also work and leisure.
Each type of multi-apartment residential buildings has its own planning, figurative solutions and master plan.
