Hotels are very diverse in terms of their purpose, the number of residents, and the level of comfort. According to their purpose, they are divided into the following groups: general type; railway station and special for visitors who come on business trips for meetings, negotiations, conferences; tourist and resort; for autotourists. Each group of hotels has its own specific features, as well as its own special composition of service premises. Depending on the level of spaciousness, comfort, technical equipment and scope of services, hotels are divided into 5 categories: 5 stars, 4;3;2;1. An important role is also played by the location of the hotel, the view from the window of the room. Rooms are single and multi-room. The volumetric-spatial composition of hotels is obtained from the corresponding layout of its two main volumetric elements - the residential part and the public one. The residential part has a different number of floors and a relatively small building area, the public part exceeds the area of the residential group and has a height of 1-3 floors. The structure of modern hotels includes several groups of premises functionally connected by specific technological connections of their parts to each other: reception and service premises (lobby group), a residential group of premises, public catering premises, administrations, service, auxiliary and utility premises, as well as a group of engineering equipment. Urban planning requirements and the solution of the general plan of the site also depend on the type of hotels. The most common are hotels of a general type, which provide for a developed system of service premises. They are located, as a rule, in the central part of the city, not far from highways, taking into account convenient connections with public and business centers, which predetermines the need to search for their expressive compositional and volumetric-spatial solution.
