Linear objects are of regional and local significance. These include railways, roads, communication lines, gas pipelines, power lines, heat pipelines, tram lines, collectors, water conduits and other types of structures. Linear objects are of three types. The first type requires a land plot, which includes: canals, above-ground slurry pipelines, power lines over 10 kV, gas pipelines whose pressure exceeds 1,2 MPa, etc. The second type includes structures without a land plot, namely above-ground and underground facilities ( networks of engineering and technological survey, etc.). The third type is especially dangerous unique and technically complex objects with special requirements for the land. In rare cases, linear objects are allowed to be combined in one area. Groups of linear objects: objects in the field of transport (highways), line-cable structures, city-wide communications (main) for engineering and transport support of the territory. The choice of the territory for the location of a linear facility depends on the site limitation, the definition of the route, as well as on the size of the protected zone and the required right-of-way. It is possible to refuse a building plot in case of above-ground or underground laying. The territory of the facility being designed is a section in the form of a corridor with designated start and end points, the width of which determines the layout of the structure at the next stages. Linear objects will be separated from buildings that are functionally related, but not subject to such. The boundaries of the sections of linear objects as well as the sections of common use (drives, streets, etc.) are defined by red lines. In the zone of the settlement, it is necessary to pay special attention to the placement of dangerous linear objects: to protect the territory from unforeseen emergencies of a man-made nature, fire prevention measures and pay due attention to civil defense. If the territory of the planned linear facility is outside the boundaries of the settlement, the following restrictions are put forward to it: 

- areas that are subject to a special purpose;

- zones of historical and cultural purpose;

- natural specially protected areas;

- agricultural land of special value;

- developments for residential buildings, suburban areas, etc.
