Architectural solutions

Design documentation has been developed for the overhaul and technical re-equipment of the summer theater. The Summer Theater was built in 1937 by architect V.S. Krolevets. In 2001, the Summer Theater was restored. The Summer Theater is a cultural and leisure facility on the territory of the park. MV Frunze, which is located near the Black Sea coastline. The summer theater is made in the style of pavilion-park architecture and is a rotunda with buildings attached to it on both sides. The rotunda has two rows of columns. The open inner space of the rotunda is the auditorium. The building attached to the north side of the rotunda (northern extension) is a two-storey stone building without a basement or an attic; from the side of the main facade it has a six-column portico. In the northern extension there is the main entrance to the theater, a fire station, light and sound control rooms, VIP boxes, a block of buffet-bar premises. The building attached to the south side of the rotunda (southern extension) is a two-story stone building without an attic, has a basement floor under part of the building. The central part of the facade is highlighted by a semicircular bay window. A stage box adjoins the south annex. In the south annex there are artistic rooms, two blocks of buffet rooms, an electrical panel room, a cafe hall for actors, service and technical rooms, in the basement there is a water metering unit and a room for storing and repairing lamps and electrical equipment. The auditorium has no walls, it is surrounded by a fence along the outer row of columns and is protected from precipitation by a translucent tinted coating. The facades of the extensions have balconies and are decorated with decorative elements. Stucco was used to finish the facades and stucco decoration. The Summer Theater is not an object of cultural heritage. For a relative mark of 0.00, the mark of the finished floor of the 1st floor of the northern annex was taken. The relative planning elevation of the ground is variable from minus 0,77 m from the side of the northern extension to minus 3,56 m from the side of the southern extension, the elevation of the ridge of the portico of the northern extension is 10,928 m, the elevation of the crowning cornice of the cover of the stage box of the southern extension is 10,61 m. The list of types of planned work is presented in the Design Assignment. The project documentation provides for the preservation of the general planning structure and functional purpose of the summer theater. The new location and purpose of the premises did not entail changes in the constructive scheme and architectural and artistic solution of the summer theater. Vertical communication between floors and evacuation in the northern extension is carried out by 2 L1-type stairwells, which have direct access to the territory adjacent to the building. Vertical communication between floors and evacuation in the southern extension is also carried out by 2 L1-type stairwells, which have direct access to the territory adjacent to the building. Access to the roof is provided through a manhole located in the southern extension. Vertical fire escapes are provided at the height differences of the roof. From the auditorium, evacuation is projected to three cardinal points. The walls of the extensions (external and internal) are existing brick with plastering. The walls of the stage box are made of monolithic reinforced concrete. The columns of the rotunda are made of monolithic reinforced concrete with plastering. Architraves (beams in the form of a belt resting on rotunda columns) are made of monolithic reinforced concrete. Partitions existing - brick. Newly erected partitions - from brick, from blocks of cellular concrete and from GKL sheets (ordinary and moisture resistant) on a frame with filling voids with mineral slabs. Window blocks - metal-plastic with double-glazed windows. Door blocks - metal, metal-plastic and wooden, fire-resistant and conventional, glazed and deaf. The covering (roof) of the outbuildings is a wooden hip truss system (single-pitched and multi-pitched) with a roof made of galvanized steel sheets. The covering (roof) of the auditorium is a domed folded steel structure with a roof made of polycarbonate honeycomb sheets - Lexan. The drain is external. Finishing of premises and floor covering - in accordance with the purpose of the premises: floors - ceramic tiles, cement coating with iron, laminate, linoleum, self-leveling polymer; walls - cement-sand plaster, decorative plaster with subsequent painting with water-dispersed paints, facing with ceramic tiles; ceilings - water-based paint; false ceilings - slatted. Measures have been designed to ensure the accessibility of the building for people with limited mobility. Two entrances are equipped with ramps. Width of door and open openings - not less than 0,9 m. Doorways do not have thresholds, the floor height difference in the entrance door openings is no more than 0,02 m. A bathroom with a specially equipped cabin is provided. The floor covering is hard and non-slip. The width of pedestrian paths along the site is at least 2,00 m. The slopes of footpaths and sidewalks do not exceed 5% in the longitudinal direction and 1% in the transverse direction. There are sections of sidewalks with a lowered curb, the height of the side stone at elevation changes does not exceed 0,05 m. Open stairs at elevation differences are designed with a tread width of at least 0,40 mm and a riser height of at least 0,12 m.

Constructive decisions

The design solutions for the overhaul of the building of the Summer Theater were developed based on the materials of visual and instrumental examination of above-ground structures and foundations. Building survey completed. The existing building of the theater was built in 1937 according to the project of arch. V.S. Krolevets. In 2001, the building was restored with a capacity of 1755 seats. The building was not in use at the time of the survey. The theater is an elliptical rotunda with an auditorium. The open space of the auditorium along the perimeter is enclosed by a stylobate with two rows of columns. The architraves of the outer and inner rows of the rotunda columns are arranged in the form of multi-span beams made of monolithic reinforced concrete, united by transverse beams and a roof slab and provide spatial rigidity of the colonnade. Two two-story buildings were attached to the auditorium at a distance of 32,5 m between them. A stage is built into one building, the main entrance of another building is made in the form of a portico. The columns of the rotunda are made of monolithic reinforced concrete of square section with a face side of 400-500 mm with plastering (diameter from 654 to 586 mm) supported by a common stylobate. The spacing of columns in a row is 2,0 m, the distance between rows is 2,5 m. According to the test, the concrete class was set from B10 to B20. Columns - with cracks opening up to 15 mm and concrete chips to a depth of 50 mm, with a decrease in the protective layer of concrete. Reinforcement - smooth, 15 mm in diameter, with corrosion to a depth of 3,2 mm up to 22% of the design diameter. Up to 40% of the columns are in limited operability, close to unacceptable condition. The verification calculation established that, taking into account the identified defects, the bearing capacity of the columns is 58,89 tf with an effective load of 31,05 tf, which ensures the bearing capacity of the columns for the perception of existing loads. The architraves of the rotunda are multi-span beams made of monolithic reinforced concrete with a section of 300x550 mm (h, taking into account the thickness of the slab), with a rigid support on the columns. Cross beams - with a section of 200x510 mm (h - taking into account the thickness of the slab), with a step of 2,0 m, with a rigid interface with the architrave beams. Covering plate - 250 mm thick, with cantilevered overhangs of 400 mm. Concrete not less than B15. The general condition of the architrave structures, taking into account the identified defects, is limitedly functional. The stylobate of the rotunda colonnade is a system of paired columnar foundations, united by beams - walls along the outer and inner perimeter. The space between the beams is filled with soil with an asphalt pavement. Due to the difference in the heights of the existing territory and the difference in the heights of the floor of the hall's amphitheater, the height of the stylobate from the side of the hall and the outside is of different heights. Beams of the stylobate of the rotunda - 400 mm wide, made of monolithic reinforced concrete, along the facade - with stone trim. Concrete B10. The foundations of the stylobate columns are columnar for one, two or four columns, made of monolithic reinforced concrete. Concrete B15. The general condition of the foundations is limited working capacity. The verification calculation established that the bearing capacity of the soil foundation of single foundations is 71,7 tf, and that of four-column foundations is 288,97 tf, which provides the required bearing capacity. The floor of the hall is on the ground, with a slope towards the stage, with a height difference of 2,9 m. The structural scheme of the extensions is a wall one. Spatial rigidity is ensured by the joint work of load-bearing walls. The outer walls of the outbuildings are made of clay bricks on a cement-sand mortar, 540 mm thick, with a calculated masonry resistance R = 1,5 MPa, the walls are plastered, the plinth is lined with stone. In the plaster layer revealed cracks opening up to 5 mm. The general condition of the walls is limited working capacity. The walls of the stage box are made of monolithic reinforced concrete, 130 mm thick, and are in working condition. Pilasters - with a section of 200x350 mm, horizontal ribs - 200 and 500 mm high. Partitions - made of brick and aerated concrete, partially dismantled. The ceilings of the outbuildings and the ceiling above the stage are with wooden beams. The floors and inter-beam filling have been dismantled. The general condition of the beams is limited serviceability. The load-bearing structures of the coatings are wooden rafters with wooden lathing. Covering over the stage - on steel beams from rolled I-beams. The general condition of the truss system is operational. Outbuilding stairs - prefabricated steps on steel stringers, are in working condition. The foundations of the extensions are strip foundations made of stone and rubble masonry and monolithic reinforced concrete, with a deepening into the ground, taking into account the existing relief and underground floor marks. The general condition of the foundations is limited working capacity. Existing stairs of extensions - concrete steps on steel stringers. They are in working order. In accordance with the data of the "Technical Report", the base of all foundations is light silty semi-hard swelling clay with the following characteristics: resistance 11 kg/cm0,663. The stress at the base of existing foundations is 1,25 kg/cm2. The survey revealed that during the construction of the theater building, measures were taken to ensure the seismic resistance of the building. Anti-seismic belts made of monolithic reinforced concrete are made in the brick walls above the openings. The reinforced concrete frame of the stage is reinforced with a system of vertical pilasters and horizontal beams. The reinforced concrete structures of the rotunda are rigidly fixed to each other. The survey found that the category of the technical condition of the building is III. The project documentation for the overhaul of the auditorium provides for: reinforcement of a part of the rotunda columns with a steel frame made of rolled corners 100x8 and sheet overlays; installation of the amphitheater floor slab. The floor slab is designed with ledges. Concrete B25, F100, W4, reinforcement A-III and A-I. Preparation - a layer of existing asphalt; replacement of the floor structure of the stage.
